Meeting with the celebrant
What will happen when I see with the celebrant?
My role as Funeral Celebrant is to help to prepare the funeral service that is personal and loving.
I start with asking you to tell me what your best hopes are for the service. What kind of service do you want?
We will then spend some time with you sharing with me anything you want to about the life of the very special one who has died. I want to know about them, about their life and what they meant to you, to family and friends.
We will together create a service. I will make some suggestions but I want to follow and do what you want done and how you want it done.
We will talk about some very practical things - How much time will be needed? Who do you want to speak? Will a family member do a Eulogy - if they do would they like help from me. If you ask me to do the Eulogy I will prepare one and send it to you to make sure that it is correct and says the things the want it to say.
Will there be music ? Who will organise this? Will there be a photo and music presentation? Who will do this? Will others speak? How many? Do you want the service to be secular or some elements of the religious or spiritual ? Will there be a gathering afterwards? What details will you want shared with those who attend. Do you wish for an offering of flowers or thoughts to be placed on the coffin? Will this be only family or for all present?
I will also talk to you about the Committal and your wishes for how the service will conclude.
